The Master Cleanse diet which is also referred to as the Lemonade diet is a kind of juicy mixture prepared for the purpose of losing excess weight quickly.
Master Cleanse is a modified juice that permits no food, substituting tea and lemonade made with maple syrup and cayenne pepper.
The lemonade diet is an extreme dietary cleanse that allows you to conduct a nightly saltwater flush and use a laxative tea.
Hollywood stars like Beyonce, Jared Leto, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher have all reportedly followed this plan to rid supposed toxins from their body and lose weight dramatically.
The popularity of lemonade grew the most when Beyonce revealed to Oprah how it made her drop some ounces.
The Master Cleanse is a type of fast that includes no solid food. Although you may be allured by the quick weight loss and alleged feelings of well-being, the cleanse has no basis in science and is contrary to long-term weight loss and health goals.
How It Works
This diet works primarily through a process called detoxification. And this diet has been believed to enhance weight loss and removes harmful toxins from the body through this process of detoxification.
What Is Detoxification
Detoxification is a type of treatment that helps to rid the body of unspecified “toxins” – substances.
This method of cleansing the body of unwanted substances is often referred to as detox or sometimes called body cleansing)
It is believed that toxins accumulated in the body usually have undesirable short-term or long-term effects on individual health.
Fasting, dieting, exclusive consumption, or avoidance of certain foods such as fat, carbohydrate, fruits, vegetables, juices, herbs, or water are the commonest activities associated with detoxification.
Scientists and health organizations have expressed their doubts about this concept for its unsound scientific basis and lack of evidence for the claims made.
There is no evidence that the diet removes any toxins or that it achieves anything beyond temporary weight loss, followed by rapidly regaining the lost weight.
Origin Of Master Cleanse
Master Cleanse was developed in the 1940s by Dr. Stanley Burroughs, The development came up with a guide instructing that to practice dieting one is supposed to stay off any solid food for at least 10 days.
This means you have to spend at least 10 days on a liquid diet to see this system work effectively.
However, before going on this master cleanse diet you first need to prepare your body for it. You just cannot quit eating solid food. To get your body prepared for it.
Here is what you should do:
- On the first and second days, you’re expected to cut out every processed food, caffeine, dairy products, and alcohol while you eat only fruits and green vegetables.
- On the third day, you get yourself used to a liquid diet. Take some smoothies, and vegetable juices soups, fresh fruit.
- While on the fourth day, you are expected to only drink water and fresh orange juice. Notwithstanding you can have organic tea before going to bed.
- Finally, on the fifth day, you can start the Master Cleanse.
How To Prepare And Use The Master Cleanse Diet
First, you must get your ingredients right and ready to prepare the lemonade concoction. To get started here are the ingredients you need to get.
- 1 glass water
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Organic tea or laxative tea
- Sea salt to taste
Once you have gotten all your ingredients available. Follow the steps listed below
Step 1:
Add some quantity of salt to a glass of water to make a saltwater solution. Take this solution on an empty stomach in the morning. This liquid will remove mucus and waste from your digestive tract.
Step 2:
Take a glass of water and add lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper in it and stir it well.
The maple syrup will provide you with the relevant minerals and sugar needed to supply you energy while the lemon juice will help to break down the old waste, Cayenne pepper mixed in this drink will stimulate detoxification by breaking up mucus and enlarging the blood vessels.
Drink this concoction six to 12 times throughout the day.
Step 3:
Every night before going to bed ensure you drink a cup of organic tea.
Can I Drink Coffee While On The Master Cleanse Diet
Because no coffee or other caffeinated drink is allowed on the cleanse, Burroughs recommends you wean yourself of any dependence you may have prior to starting the diet.
If you drink coffee daily and abruptly stop when you begin the Master Cleanse, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as headache, fatigue, and general malaise.
Cut back your consumption gradually, so that you are no longer drinking it when you start day one of the cleanse.
Tom Woloshyn, the author of “The Complete Master Cleanse: A Step-by-Step Guide to Maximizing the Benefits,” recommends taking pantothenic acid, or vitamin B-5, for several days prior to starting the cleanse to help you withstand the effects of caffeine withdrawal.
Why Coffee Is Off-Limits
The aim of dietary cleansing is to reset you and create a healthier you.
Burroughs and other advocates of the cleanse note that the caffeine in coffee is a stimulant and may interfere with your natural sleep and wake cycle.
Too much caffeine can increase the number of stress hormones your body releases, which taxes your system, explains Mark Hyman, an alternative medicine doctor. Coffee can also interfere with digestion, which is one of the primary bodily systems the Master Cleanse attempts to reset.

Definitely interested in a detox for my body and starting a master cleanse. At the beginning of the year I started exercising and eating healthier but I’ve never actually done something that would cleanse my body from all the junk that I put into it over the past 10 years. What I’m mostly concerned about is what I read on here about the fatigue and irritability, the food cravings. What I think I need to do is take a little vacation, work my way up to this and then just go on a cleanse while I’m off for like a whole week I’ll go back to work feeling refreshed and healthier. So definitely help to kickstart my healthy lifestyle. Thanks for giving me information of how to start this and recommending a good book that will help me on my journey
Sounds like you are already coming up with a good plan. A cleanse is a great way to start a healthier life with a clean slate. Taking a week off is a great idea, especially if you are choosing a more aggressive cleanse or not sure how your body may react.
Most people with usually try a simple cleanse since they can’t take time off for a more complete one. The Master Cleanse will give you a lot of good information to start one.
